In May we published pictures of our Reed Hall beds being created. \u00a0We are now able to bring you some photos showing the finished product!<\/p>\n

Reed floral display<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The project for the Reed Hall beds this year is to commemorate the centenary of World War 1. \u00a0Grounds Manager for the Central Campus\u00a0Team, Sam Primrose, wanted to do something in honour the memory of those who fought and lost their lives during the war. \u00a0Sam discussed her ideas with Mandy Teague and Laura Griffiths who both look after Reed Hall Gardens and together they came up with the idea of red flowers and white flower edging. \u00a0Red Petunias are used in the centre of the beds with black Petunias dot planted throughout. \u00a0The beds are edged with white Allysum.<\/p>\n

In one of the beds the focal piece is a living display. \u00a0This has been designed by Chris Harnett of Kernock Park Plants<\/a>\u00a0based in Cornwall. Our living floral display is a 2.5m diameter circle made entirely of live plants. \u00a0Alternanthera E – green for the\u00a0 background, Alternanthera H – red for the poppy, Sempervivum tec Rubin for the lettering, Ajuga Choc Chip – black for the poppy centre and Sempervivum Green for the leaf<\/p>\n
