wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"background-color:#8a7d91\">This social science research considers the use of the cervical stitch (cerclage), in the context of the NHS\u2019s attempts to reduce preterm birth in England.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-white-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-ba484d3a08515d734a4b7ba499dc6748 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"background-color:#8a7d91\">The stitch is an intervention in pregnancy in which the cervix at the opening of the uterus is sewn shut to try to prevent the foetus or baby from emerging.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-white-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-cbdf3f23d737a6afdcb095196132ed04 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"background-color:#8a7d91\">This project will examine experiences of the stitch and draw out fundamental understandings of pregnancy and the making of new persons in the context of reproductive politics in England.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-white-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-fc2fe3d1906b24a846fa3dc98b47d082 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"background-color:#8a7d91\">The research is funded by Wellcome and carried out by Dr Aimee Middlemiss in the Centre for Cultures and Environments of Health. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right has-white-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-0b0333a75cd7a75071ecf6b58b89a1fe wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"background-color:#8a7d91\">The project will take place from 2025-2029.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text is-stacked-on-mobile\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><\/figure><div
