CHORUS is a multi-centre double-blind randomised placebo-controlled group-sequential superiority trial to assess the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of oral <strong>C<\/strong>orticosteroids in patients wit<strong>H<\/strong> fibr<strong>O<\/strong>tic hype<strong>R<\/strong>sensitivity pne<strong>U<\/strong>moniti<strong>S<\/strong> (CHORUS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Fibrotic hypersensitivity pneumonitis (FHP)<\/strong> is a devastating lung disease involving inflammation and scarring in the lungs. There are currently no guidelines for treating FHP. Most people who are diagnosed with FHP are prescribed a course of corticosteroids (&#8216;steroids&#8217;). However, there is no good evidence to say that treating FHP with steroids is the best thing to do. Therefore we are undertaking a randomised controlled trial to find out if the commonly prescribed steroid called prednisolone is effective and safe for people with FHP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The CHORUS trial is led by Prof Michael Gibbons (Chief Investigator) and Dr Philip Molyneaux (Co-Lead) and is sponsored by the Royal Devon University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (RDUH). The trial is funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR155220).
