Charlie highlights:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe defects in Solids for quantum technologies conference welcomed some 200 researchers spanning expertise in molecular, SiC, hBN, diamond and GaN quantum systems. Despite this broad remit, the talks were all relevant and engaging, focusing on optical and spin properties of isolated electron and nuclear quantum systems. Invited talks were delivered by global leaders, and notably spanned both academic groups and emerging startups who have begun looking to exploit these emerging systems for commercial benefit. Meetings like this provide an absolutely essential opportunity to view your own research within a broader context, to clearly see the benefits, drawbacks and compromises of the myriad platforms and solutions being pursued by the community.
