The University of Exeter Employment Awards<\/a> celebrate the achievements of students who are employed alongside their studies and recent graduates undertaking full-time work, as well as the employers who mentor and train them. The awards provide formal recognition of the hard work, commitment and time management skills required to attain academic success and take active steps towards enhancing employability skills and preparing for the future careers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Four members of the Digital Team were nominated for awards: Kirsty Heffernan, Martin Tobar Prado, Deborah Phan Huy, and Johan Spruit! Read this blog to hear about their experience of being nominated for an award. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kirsty Heffernan – Digital Hub Student Ambassador (Penryn) <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

“I was nominated for the Exeter Employment Community Award in May for excellent customer service to staff and students. As a Digital Hub<\/a> Ambassador, I provided tech and digital help to Falmouth and Exeter students based in Penryn, as well as working with other Ambassadors to update the Digital Hub Sharepoint site. My favourite thing about working here is getting to learn new digital skills!” Read this blog<\/a> to hear more form Kirsty about her involvement in Times Higher Education’s Digital Universities UK event! <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Johan Spruit – Digital Hub Coordinator (Penryn) <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

“I was extremely grateful to be nominated by my Digital Hub Ambassadors for the Internal Employer of the Year award. Over the past year we have been able to build a successful team of ambassadors down in Penryn and I feel I have been able to develop my leadership skills further which has been one of my favourite parts of the role. Attending the Exeter employment awards with some of the Digital Hub team was a really great experience, and it was nice to see others within the University rewarded for their hard work and dedication.” <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Deborah Phan Huy – Student Communications and Engagement Assistant <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

“I’m\u00a0Deborah, the Communications Assistant within the Digital Team and this year I was nominated for a Community award! I am so grateful for the team who have been extremely supportive this year and have pushed me to develop some skills that I would not have been able to use as much in my medicine degree. They have always trusted me, giving me a lot of freedom in the work I have been doing with them. Martin Tobar Prado – Digital Hub Student Ambassador (Streatham)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

“Being nominated to the Exeter Employment Awards 2024 in the Business Innovation category was surprising as it was not something I was expecting to achieve. I was thankful for the nomination to my line manager and supervisor as I felt that my work at the Digital Hub was impactful. I think the nomination was due to my positive attitude and openness as I was actively looking for ways to improve the service we provide and create more efficient solutions for the University community.”<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Our Head of Digital Strategy and Engagement, Helen Cocks, attended the ceremony with our nominees, and commented, “Congratulations to our nominees for all their hard work and support throughout the year! Embedding students into our Digital team is a key strategic theme for our digital strategy<\/a> and these awards have been a great opportunity to recognise the work that students have delivered and how they have helped us to shape and deliver the digital strategy, our digital products and services.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n
