26 May 2022Welcome to the Department Elections! It is vital that every student receives a quality education during their time at University, and that all students are able to make the most of the opportunities available.
One way this happens is through Academic Representation, which ensures students on every Exeter course are represented and that their interests are promoted; each department has 2-3 Department Officers (who are elected by the students in that department), and a number of student reps, all of which are recruited to promote student needs to the University and encourage positive changes to the student experience. This role is new to the next academic year, and is in place of the subject chair and college officer roles.
Role- Department Officers are current students that improve academic representation by working with other officers, senior staff, student reps and students within their department. You will be able to make positive changes and promote the student voice in University meetings at a department and faculty level, as well as contributing to student-led projects and events. This role has an estimated commitment of 2-3 hours per week in term-time.
How to apply- Students intending to nominate themselves for the Department Officer role can do so by submitting a personal statement to the Students’ Guild website, linked here: exeterguild.org/elections/. Also found on this page is a variety of resources to help with your application, including the Role Description, support for writing your personal statement, FAQs and more.
Nominations close on Monday 6 June at 14:00. Please see other key dates below.
