Mia is an aspiring barrister, researcher, and advocate, who is entering her final year studying Law with Business at the University of Exeter. With much experience in mooting, legal research, mentoring, and leadership, she has built a reputation for thoughtful analysis, persuasive communication, and a commitment to public engagement. Mia’s work has explored the intersection of law, policy, and social impact, with particular interests in criminal justice, environmental law, and legal reform.

My internship with the Exeter Centre for Environmental Law has provided invaluable insight into the realities of legal research and policy development. Through conducting research, analysing complex legal and factual materials, and presenting findings to academics, I have strengthened my analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills. One of the aspects I have enjoyed most is the opportunity to contribute to work that has the potential to inform academic research and real-world policy discussions. Collaborating with supervisors and engaging with a range of stakeholders has enhanced my confidence and professionalism, while deepening my understanding of how legal decision-making occurs beyond the classroom. Overall, the experience has reinforced my interest in pursuing a legal career and has given me a greater appreciation for the role of research in shaping effective and impactful law.
