The study of regional forests and climate change through the\u00a0Exeter Carbon Observatory<\/a> is not restricted to temperate forests. Southwest England hosts one of the few tropical forests in the UK in the Eden Project Tropical Biome, with vegetation representing South America, Africa, Asia, and other tropical and subtropical regions.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Dr Ted Feldpausch, and other researchers from the University of Exeter, work with the Eden Project to educate the public about their research<\/a> and the role of tropical forests in the Earth System. As part of my module on Tropical Forests in Geography at the University of Exeter, I teach students about carbon cycling and ecosystem services in tropical forests. This regional tropical forest provides an exceptional opportunity for students and the public to have hands-on experience and a way to compare and contrast temperate forests in the region with tropical forests.<\/p>\n
