Exeter Carbon Observatory

Teaching

The Exeter Carbon Observatory (ExCO) is used for undergraduate teaching and postgraduate research projects. Dr Ted Feldpausch and Dr Lina Mercado use Stoke Woods, an ExCO site, to teach University of Exeter Geography undergraduate students about biodiversity and the role of temperate forests in carbon cycling through a field and laboratory practical for their Biogeography module. Annually, the best Geography undergraduate dissertation related to forestry is selected for the Royal Forestry Society Esmond Harris MBE Award-Geography Award (coordinated by Ted Feldpausch and Bryan Elliot).
