Mentoring for TIDE

There are many benefits to becoming a Mentor for colleagues: 

• Improve your understanding of issues and barriers experienced by staff 
• Motivate and support someone to fulfil their potential 
• Share valuable knowledge based on your own experience 

Expectations  

As part of your mentorship, you will discuss a variety of topics. Specific subjects will be determined based on what your Mentee is looking for, the types of subjects that will likely be covered are: 

• Navigating a career in Higher Education 
• Acting as a confidant: a personal and professional sounding board
• Sharing your networks and professional contacts
• Improving their knowledge and skills
• Supporting your Mentee to develop and maintain greater confidence and wellbeing
• Providing improved performance and productivity
• Helping them realise their full potential and progress their career 

Requirements 

All matches are made through our mentoring platform, PLD. In the mentee-led platform, you are able to select ‘TIDE’ as an area of help which will allow you to be selected by our TIDE members on the platform.

All Mentees are encouraged to have an ‘introduction’ meeting with their Mentor, otherwise known as a ‘chemistry’ meeting.   

If you are matched with a TIDE participant you will need to commit to meeting with them once per quarter for an hour from September 2026 to August 2025.
