Are you just starting out in your career, or do you need to review where you are heading and why? This workshop will introduce a number of exercises and developmental tools that will help guide you through the ‘Career Development Cycle’. The workshop will provide general guidance around career development, including themes such as getting to know yourself, exploring options, getting focused and taking action.


Training to help you build confidence

Would you like to feel more empowered and confident in the workplace? The new EMPOWER @EXETER Programme will support you to overcome self doubt/imposter syndrome, observe and acknowledge your own skills and accomplishments, as well as help you understand the impact of mindset in the workplace.  The programme will encourage you to identify professional development goals and to feel more empowered and resilient in the workplace, increasing your ability to achieve workplace/career related goals. 

This lively and enjoyable half-day course will help you make a memorable impression. It equips you with practical communication style and skills to help strengthen your confidence and become someone to whom others want to listen in different situations (e.g. meetings, interviews, presentations and one-to-one sessions).

The training will focus on communication style rather than content. It will be a good opportunity for you to discover how to grow in personal authority and do yourself justice in a range of situations, from meetings to networking events.


Training about specific topics

Your PDR is an important part of your career planning process in which you need to consider what it is that you want to get out of the process and plan accordingly.  It is an opportunity to discuss your career with your manager and get support where needed.

This session will give you the latest advice on preparing a CV and application form for jobs in Higher Education. You will learn how recruiters assess CVs and Application Forms, and the best ways to write a Supporting Statement which showcases the requirements of the person specification.

This session will provide you with the latest advice on preparing for an interview in the Higher Education sector. It will demonstrate how we recruit for staff at the University and ways to effectively prepare for different interview questions. There will also be a chance to practice using a new online mock interview tool.
