Sarah Newman started a SWWDTP-funded PhD in Linguistics in September 2025, jointly supervised by Dr Anna Havinga of the University of Bristol and Dr Terry of the University of Exeter. Her research focuses on multilingual practices in private texts by victims of the Holocaust from a historical sociolinguistic perspective. She is interested in multilingual trends appearing within a community as well as intra-author variation.
