Suzanne von Engelhardt is a PhD student in creative writing at University of Exeter. Her research analyses the language of the Third Reich and its infiltration into the language use of Germans living through the war. Her novel explores the legal and financial underpinnings of the Holocaust.

• The tension between the contemporaneous experience of a dehumanising historical event and the knowledge a present-day audience brings to narratives about that event
