Stephen Skinner has published an article about accountability for lethal force in policing and law enforcement. Entitled ‘Enhancing State Accountability for Police Use of Lethal Force: Global Monitoring and Comparative Benchmarking’, the article has been published in Policing: A Journal of Policy and Practice 18 (2024) and is available online at Doi: https://doi.org/10.1093/police/paad100. The article considers how global monitoring of lethal force can face the challenges of internationally diverse policing practices and contexts, and draws on a cross-disciplinary study of benchmarking processes to show how relative evaluations of uses of lethal force could be developed to enhance state accountability.
