The ICoN study aimed to find out how NHS staff assess and treat children with special educational needs and disability to help them become continent. Research to evaluate the ways to improve continence for children with special educational needs and disability was in the top 10\u00a0research priorities<\/a>\u00a0as voted for by families and clinicians. It was really exciting to have the opportunity to address this often neglected topic in research that is central to the daily lives of children and families.\u00a0We heard from families, young people, NHS staff, and school and social care staff about their experiences. We did this using a\u00a0questionnaire survey<\/a>\u00a0and a\u00a0systematic review<\/a>.\u00a0The full report of our Improving Continence in children and young people with neurodisability (ICON) research study has been published in the NIHR Library: Improving continence in children and young people with neurodisability: a systematic review and survey.\u00a0Health Technology Assessment 2021: 25:73\u00a0<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n
