Description of Organisation: 

The Nest Southwest is a not-for-profit, social enterprise, community interest company. It was set up in Devon by local women to support other women and girls through the major life transitions of menstruation, pregnancy, birth and menopause by providing social, emotional and informational support. 

What was your biggest achievement on your internship?    

Gaining confidence contributing to meetings, producing infographics and completing research for The Nest.  

Were there any challenges and how did you overcome these?    

I am generally a little shy and I found it hard to be vocal about my ideas at the start but as I gained positive feedback from my employer my confidence grew. 

During the internship…     

  • I received learning and development opportunities which could be helpful for my career (e.g., online courses or mentoring).  
  • I was able to complete the tasks assigned to me.  
  • I received regular feedback from my manager.  
  • I received sufficient training to undertake the role.  
  • Overall, this internship was a positive experience.

  • I have  improved my communication, teamwork, and problem solving skills.  
  • My job prospects have improved by expanding my CV and what I can draw upon in interviews.  
  • I have learned more about the skills I need and the options available to me in future.

Yes, I would recommend this internship scheme. I was able to complete my internship remote and over the summer – the perfect job!
