Description of Organisation:   

The University of Exeter’s Department of Public Health and Sport Sciences is an interdisciplinary group specialisng in health, well-being, and sports performance across all ages, from clinical populations to elite athletes. The department collaborates with the NHS, local communities, charities, industry, and sporting organizations to drive policy change and improve health outcomes.  

What was your biggest achievement on your internship?  

My biggest achievement during my internship was gaining hands on experience through conducting observations in primary schools. As well as assisting other researchers with their research papers.  

Were there any challenges and how did you overcome these?  

Screening literature was challenging at first, as it was my first time doing it. I overcame this by seeking guidance and support from my supervisor. I practiced regularly and refined my approach through trial and error until I became more confident in the process.  

What were your reasons for undertaking this internship?     

  • To gain experience and knowledge within a specific occupation or field.  
  • To improve my job prospects by expanding my CV and what I can draw upon in interviews.  
  • To build new connections.  

During the internship…   

  • I received learning and development opportunities which could be helpful for my career.  
  • I was able to complete the tasks assigned to me.
