Job Title: Conservation Officer Intern at Wildwood Devon

Job Summary:

Assisting with the white-clawed crayfish conservation project – tasks include surveying local rivers, maintaining the crayfish tanks, assisting with species breeding, translocation and reintroductions.
Other tasks on site may include dormice surveying, public engagement, creating enrichment toys for the animals.

What was your biggest achievement on your internship?

Increased confidence in independent problem solving and proactive working.

Were there any challenges and how did you overcome these? 

Managing anxiety in a new workplace – overcome by being prepared and pushing my boundaries bit by bit.

As a result of my internship… 

  •  I have improved my communication, teamwork, and problem solving skills.  
  • My job prospects have improved by expanding my CV and what I can draw upon in interviews.  
  • I have learned more about the skills I need and the options available to me in future.  
  • My overall confidence has increased.
