Name of Student: Amy Blakemore

Job Title: Grounds Surveyor

Job Summary:

I was collating old maps of the trees and plants present at Reed Hall. I would use the maps to cross reference what is still there and no longer exists. Once we established which trees were still present in the area we used an online system to attach photographs of the trees to keep a detailed record. For any new trees we added them to a spreadsheet so they can be added to the online system in the future.

What was your biggest achievement on your internship?

Completing the Reed Hall tree surveying to a high standard- recognised by our manager and enhancing my knowledge of tree identification which I will need for my future job roles.

It was a great experience to be part of the Grounds Team and understand the vital work they did.

Would you recommend this internship scheme to other students?

Yes, I would recommend the scheme to other students.

The A2i experience was hands down the best thing I did while at The University of Exeter, I gained so many valuable skills, and was able to develop an interest into the job sector I want to go into.

If you would like to find out more about the A2i scheme, you can contact the team via a2i@exeter.ac.uk, or you can also visit the student and employer facing webpages here.
