Please briefly outline the project/tasks/responsibilities you worked on during your Professional Pathways internship:
“As an Innovation Projects Support Intern through the Professional Pathways: Arts, Culture & Heritage programme, I worked on a project analysing recruitment content for Expo 2025 Osaka at BLR WORLD. I was tasked with analysing data-driven metrics for recruitment content. My main focus was on understanding the cultural backgrounds of the target audiences and evaluating what strategies worked well and what could be improved. I particularly enjoyed researching diverse engagement tactics used across platforms and contexts. This project not only enhanced my analytical thinking but also helped me improve my presentation skills, as I shared my findings with the team in a professional setting.“
Given the Professional Pathways internship is 35 hours in total, what advice would you give to other students to ensure they gain as much as possible from the experience?
“My advice is simple: make the most of every hour ā and then some. I actively engaged with team members and managers through the companyās internal mentoring scheme, initiating conversations about career paths, CV advice, and even general life insights. I also asked many questions to my line manager to ensure I fully understood my tasks and delivered work to a high standard. In fact, I often worked beyond the official hours because I was motivated to create a strong final presentation.
Even though this role was in a different field from my degree, I found the work fascinating. By dedicating myself to research and analysis, I discovered that this industry actually aligns well with my strengths and interests. So, my advice is: work hard, ask questions, think deeply, and stay curious ā youāll be surprised by what you discover about your capabilities and potential career direction.”
Why would you recommend the Professional Pathways programme to other students?
“This programme is truly a game-changer. It provides a rare opportunity to experience a real working environment in the UK ā especially valuable for international students like me. I gained hands-on experience and, more importantly, built the confidence to pursue a global career.
It was incredibly rewarding to work in an industry Iām passionate about, and I was proud to connect with inspiring people along the way. The Professional Pathways programme gave me a strong foundation, both personally and professionally. I genuinely encourage other students to apply wholeheartedly ā this could be the step that launches your future.“
