Please briefly outline the project/tasks/responsibilities you worked on during your Professional Pathways internship:

During my Professional Pathways to Marketing internship at Your Digital Future Ltd, I worked as a Social Media and Content Executive Intern. My responsibilities included conducting in-depth research into industry trends and competitor activity, supporting content planning for digital recruitment campaigns, and exploring the use of AI tools in enhancing candidate engagement. I also contributed to refining social media strategy and produced a detailed final report with recommendations to improve brand visibility and marketing performance. Throughout the internship, I collaborated closely with the team and received valuable feedback that helped me grow both professionally and personally.

How has the Professional Pathways programme helped you in taking the next steps in your career?

“The Professional Pathways programme has had a significant impact on shaping my career direction. The training element provided a comprehensive foundation in core marketing areas such as branding, digital content, consumer behaviour, and ethical marketing. Hearing directly from industry professionals not only deepened my understanding of the sector but also boosted my confidence to explore creative and strategic roles in marketing.

The internship at Your Digital Future Ltd further solidified my interest in working at the intersection of marketing, research, and technology. Being trusted with real responsibilities and producing a final report with actionable recommendations made me realise how much I enjoy analytical thinking and problem-solving in a business context.

Going forward, I’ll be using this experience to explore roles in product ownership, digital strategy, or marketing operations, where I can apply the skills and insights I’ve gained. It has also helped me refine my personal goals and better articulate my strengths in future job applications and interviews.”

Given the Professional Pathways internship is 35 hours in total, what advice would you give to other students to ensure they gain as much as possible from the experience?

“My biggest advice would be to go into the office if you have the opportunity. Being in a real workplace environment allows you to interact with more people, observe how the team operates, and pick up on things you might miss remotely. It’s a great way to build your professional network, improve your communication skills, and gain a deeper understanding of the company culture.

You also get the chance to have informal conversations, ask questions in real time, and potentially form meaningful connections that could support you in your future career. Even within just 35 hours, being present, proactive, and open to learning can make a huge difference.”

Why would you recommend the Professional Pathways programme to other students?

“I would highly recommend the Professional Pathways programme to any student looking to gain real-world experience, build confidence, and explore their career interests in a structured and supportive environment. The combination of employer-led training and hands-on internship provides a unique opportunity to apply what you’ve learned in a practical setting while receiving guidance from experienced professionals.

It may seem like a short-term opportunity, but the impact is long-lasting. The experience equips you with valuable skills, broadens your perspective, and truly prepares you for future roles. Whether you’re set on a career path or still exploring your options, Pathways gives you the exposure and insight to take meaningful next steps.”
