Profile

Dr Manchi is an aquatic animal physiologist with a particular interest in intensive farming of aquatic animals using sustainable aquaculture systems such as Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS). He is a scientist at the Indian Council of Agricultural Research Directorate of Coldwater Fisheries Research in India. He has experience in designing and developing standard operating protocols for the intensive rearing of fish in RAS. He is also involved in the development of sustainable and system-specific feeds, understanding animal-aquatic environment interactions, and ecophysiology.  

His role as Postdoctoral Research Fellow in this project involves carrying out experimental and pilot-scale trials to optimize system design, water quality conditions, and demonstrate RAS-based king prawn farming in the UK. He is located at the project’s commercial-scale king prawn demonstrator unit based at Rastech Ltd, Guardbridge, Scotland.
