Martin is a soil biogeochemist with a background in phosphorus (P) and nitrogen (N) cycling and is Section Head of the Farm Emissions Section at Rothamsted Research. His expertise includes P research in soils and water, especially the role of organic P in plant nutrition and mitigation of diffuse pollution from agriculture, including the role and management of buffer strips. He also leads projects developing novel fertilisers for improving yields and nutritional quality of crops.
