Pawel Sierocinski

Research Fellow in Evolution and Ecology of Microbial Communities, ESI, University of Exeter

Profile

Dr Pawel Sierocinski is a Research Fellow in Biosciences at the Penryn Campus. His research focuses on evolution and ecology of microbial communities with particular focus on methane producing communities from the Anaerobic Digesters (AD).

His research aims to find links between evolution and ecology in how the communities function and to use ecological processes, such as community coalescence, in order to improve gas yields in the commercial operations. His other research focus is looking for ecosystem services that engineered ecosystems, like AD, provide on top of their primary functions in order to expose extra value industrial microbes provide to the society.
