The session follows our November 2026 lecture and Q&A with Keir Monteith KC, who will be visiting the Law School on 24 November to discuss the use of rap and drill music and lyrics in criminal prosecutions, and how such use further entrenches the deep systemic inequalities that are baked into the criminal justice system.

The restorative justice workshop will also explore the extraordinary story and work of Jacob Dunne, who co-founded the Common Ground Justice Project and wrote a memoir, ‘Right from Wrong’. On a night out at 19, Jacob killed James Hodgkinson with a single punch, an act that irrevocably changed his own life and the lives of James’s grieving family. He served time for manslaughter and left prison homeless, unemployed and without direction, until restorative justice brought him together with James’s parents, Joan and David. Jacob’s book inspired the hit play ‘Punch’ by James Graham, which is dedicated to James Hodgkinson and all victims of one-punch: https://punchtheplay.com.

Please keep an eye on the ‘Events & Training’ page of this Digital Hub for registration when available.
