{"id":2193,"date":"2023-09-25T14:40:17","date_gmt":"2023-09-25T14:40:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.exeter.ac.uk\/lawbulletin\/?p=2193"},"modified":"2023-10-18T17:51:21","modified_gmt":"2023-10-18T17:51:21","slug":"mooting-opportunity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.exeter.ac.uk\/lawbulletin\/2023\/09\/25\/mooting-opportunity\/","title":{"rendered":"Mooting Opportunity: Landmark Chambers"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Law School is looking for expressions of interest from <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">final year students<\/span> who would like to take part in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.landmarkchambers.co.uk\/pupillage-recruitment\/judicial-review-moot\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.landmarkchambers.co.uk\/pupillage-recruitment\/judicial-review-moot\/\"><strong>Landmark Chambers<\/strong> <strong>Judicial Review Moot Competition<\/strong><em>.<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This competition consists of public law moot problems, with a focus on public law as it is applied in the planning and environmental law context.&nbsp; Crucially, no prior knowledge of planning or environmental law is required.&nbsp; The competition is an excellent opportunity for students to learn about the application of public law in a specific context and learn more about one of Landmark&#8217;s key practice areas prior to pupillage applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The competition comprises of three knock-out rounds followed by a Grand Final, which traditionally takes place at the Royal Courts of Justice.&nbsp; The two individual competitors who obtain the highest scores in the Grand Final will each be awarded \u00a3500 and the opportunity to undertake a <a href=\"https:\/\/eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=http%3A%2F%2Flandmark.nealfletcher.co.uk%2Fpupillage-recruitment%2Fmini-pupillage%2F&amp;data=05%7C01%7CS.Miller%40exeter.ac.uk%7C49adc973da0d44ddbecd08dbb9decdee%7C912a5d77fb984eeeaf321334d8f04a53%7C0%7C0%7C638308138802712604%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&amp;sdata=Ov1ay0FII0dPoo6r3ATamlxHoxl%2FL6f8TNGp%2BMOamgA%3D&amp;reserved=0\">mini-pupillage<\/a> in Chambers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first round of the competition will take place in-person on <strong>Saturday 18 November 2023<\/strong>, at Landmark\u2019s Chambers in London.&nbsp; During the first round every student who enters the moot will be provided with the opportunity not only to hone their research, drafting and advocacy skills, but also to hear more from Landmark\u2019s team about life at Landmark and at the Planning and Environmental Bar.&nbsp; To that end and in addition to the moots themselves, competitors will be given the opportunity to participate in a planning and environmental law workshop with members of the Chambers\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.landmarkchambers.co.uk%2Fexpertise%2F&amp;data=05%7C01%7CS.Miller%40exeter.ac.uk%7C49adc973da0d44ddbecd08dbb9decdee%7C912a5d77fb984eeeaf321334d8f04a53%7C0%7C0%7C638308138802712604%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&amp;sdata=ypUyIYd7d5cz5FpOjGXM1PRL%2Fz8LMFVbO5DA1rW5Pf0%3D&amp;reserved=0\">Planning and Environmental Teams<\/a> and to ask the Pupillage Committee questions about the pupillage application process and the structure of pupillage itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"mooting-opportunity\">At present, the provisional dates for the second round, third round and Grand Final are <strong>Wednesday 13 December 2023, Wednesday 24 January 2024 and Thursday 29 February 2024<\/strong> respectively.&nbsp; Please note that the second and third rounds will be held virtually and the Grand Final, will be held at the Royal Courts of Justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>If you are interested in participating this competition, please email the Mooting Inbox (<a href=\"mailto:mooting@exeter.ac.uk\">mooting@exeter.ac.uk<\/a> ) with your expression of interest.&nbsp; In accordance with the Competitions Policy, please include in your email details of any previous external competitions where you have represented the Law School.
