{"id":2203,"date":"2023-09-26T09:45:30","date_gmt":"2023-09-26T09:45:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.exeter.ac.uk\/lawbulletin\/?p=2203"},"modified":"2023-10-04T16:36:37","modified_gmt":"2023-10-04T16:36:37","slug":"exeter-law-school-moot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.exeter.ac.uk\/lawbulletin\/2023\/09\/26\/exeter-law-school-moot\/","title":{"rendered":"Exeter Law School Competition"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Open to pairs of students from any years<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Deadline to express interest: 5pm on 13 October<\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The Law School is pleased to announce a school-wide negotiation competition to take place this term.&nbsp; This competition will be open to all undergraduate and post-graduate taught students.&nbsp; The first round of the competition will take place at the <strong>beginning of Week 6 (w\/c 30<sup>th<\/sup> October)<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Need to know Info:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>You will need to be in teams of 2 students.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Each team will compete against another team in a scenario-based negotiation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Teams in the competition will be scored on planning, teamwork, rapport building, information gathering, bargaining, ethics, self-analysis and the outcome of the scenario.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Teams will be marked according to a scoring matrix. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The four highest scoring teams from the first round will progress to the final.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The winners and second-place team will then be eligible to go on and represent the University and Law School at CEDR National Student Negotiation Competition 2024.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Register your pairing by <strong>5pm 13 October <\/strong>on <a href=\"mailto:mooting@exeter.ac.uk\" data-type=\"mailto\" data-id=\"mailto:mooting@exeter.ac.uk\">mooting@exeter.ac.uk<\/a> <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The detail:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It is up to you who you pair with and so please only register your interest once you have formed your team.&nbsp; The ability to negotiate effectively is a key legal skill utilised daily by barristers and solicitors alike.&nbsp;This is your opportunity to experience all of these different facets of negotiation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Teams will be provided with the scenarios ahead of time and so each team will have an opportunity to prepare before their allocated slot.&nbsp; Each team will compete against another randomly assigned team. Teams will be marked according to a scoring matrix.
