These courses are open to all University staff and students. Courses will close one week before the first scheduled session and all applicants will be informed if they have a place at this time.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Introduction to R:<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>R is a programming language and software environment primarily focused on performing statistics, data analysis and visualisation. This course will provide an all-purpose introduction to the R programming language and may provide an accessible entry to computer programming in general.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>This course will cover:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>How to use Rstudio to create scripts and run R based programmes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Definitions of fundamental programming terminology and concepts such as variable, function, for loops that is transferable to other programming languages.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The different objects for storing data and the importance of different data types.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How to read in data, manipulate it and save the output.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How to perform some basic inferential statistical tests.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How to visualise data in commonly used figures<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Regression with R<\/strong>:<strong>1 session 10am \u2013 1pm: 26 January<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Regression analysis is a fundamental statistical technique used to model the relationship between multiple variables. It is a very flexible tool that can handle a range of different data types (continuous, binary or categorical) and address both complex and simple research questions.
