{"id":2877,"date":"2024-01-19T16:57:34","date_gmt":"2024-01-19T16:57:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.exeter.ac.uk\/lawbulletin\/?p=2877"},"modified":"2024-01-30T17:52:55","modified_gmt":"2024-01-30T17:52:55","slug":"law-alumni-support-college-students-in-the-pathways-to-law-programme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.exeter.ac.uk\/lawbulletin\/2024\/01\/19\/law-alumni-support-college-students-in-the-pathways-to-law-programme\/","title":{"rendered":"Law alumni support college students in the Pathways to Law programme"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>It was great to welcome some of our alumni back to campus to share their advice and experience with students on our <a href=\"https:\/\/law.exeter.ac.uk\/public\/pathwaystolaw\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/law.exeter.ac.uk\/public\/pathwaystolaw\/\">Pathways to Law<\/a> programme. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students spent the morning gaining skills in client interviewing and writing a strong CV with the opportunity to try them out in the afternoon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alumnus <strong>Benjamin Thomson<\/strong>, <strong>(Associate (Commercial) Ashfords LLP)<\/strong> took the students through a CV workshop, whilst our own Law Clinic Co-Directors, <strong>Natasha Bellinger <\/strong>and<strong> Kim McDonald<\/strong> helped students to develop their client interviewing skills. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The students gained a lot from the alumni&#8217;s input saying <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><em>I enjoyed speaking to Lawyers, it has really gave an insight into the rewarding elements of law as well as the challenges<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Great to talk to someone from a law firm and have specific feedback from a professional that does this daily<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>With thanks to our alumni and local legal professionals for their support on the training day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Jessica Whittick (Tozers LLP, Exeter)<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tom Moser (Crown Prosecution Service)<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Racheal Gould (Stephens Scown LLP), George Demirev, Monica Duque<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ellie Wonnacott (Michelmores LLP)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>And<strong> Karolina Smolicz <\/strong>an alumna of University of Bristol who works at <strong>Stephens Scown LLP<\/strong>, Exeter.
