Deadline for submitting expressions of interest: 5pm on Monday 9 December 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

ESU-Essex Court Chambers are running their annual national mooting competition in 2025.  The various rounds of the competition will take place over a number of rounds between January and June 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The National Mooting Competition provides law students from universities and colleges throughout the United Kingdom with the opportunity to gain experience in their future role as advocates. In taking part in a moot, students do not just show their knowledge and skill in handling legal materials, but also their ability to practise the art of forensic and persuasive argument in a concise and effective manner. Furthermore, mooting enables students to gain confidence as advocates in a courtroom setting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The winning finalists, as well as having their names engraved on the Silver Mace, will be awarded a prize of \u00a31,000 each, whilst the educational establishment at which they study will also receive a donation of \u00a31,000. The members of the running-up team will receive \u00a3750 each, and their institution will receive \u00a3500. Additionally the four semi-finalists will receive \u00a3250 each for reaching that stage of the competition. These prizes have been generously donated by Essex Court Chambers. All four finalists will be offered a mini-pupillage at Essex Court Chambers. <\/strong>The winners of the ESU-Essex Court Chambers Mooting Competition will represent the UK in the Commonwealth Mooting Competition during the years in which the Commonwealth Moot takes place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Law School will be able to send one team consisting of two students to this prestigious competition.\u00a0 If you are interested in participating in this competition, please email the Mooting Inbox (mooting@exeter.ac.uk<\/a>\u00a0) <\/strong>with your expression of interest.
