The speaker has kindly offered to deliver the session at our university, but we need a minimum of <strong>100 attendees<\/strong>&nbsp;for the event to go ahead\u2014so don\u2019t miss out!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please express your interest by filling out this form:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/ZWCj5CJbSmvrppUt6\">https:\/\/forms.gle\/ZWCj5CJbSmvrppUt6<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>What to Expect:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>Workshop Overview:&nbsp;<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Title: <strong>Evidence-based Note-Taking to Halve Study Time&nbsp;and Double Memory Retention<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>at University<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 an iCanStudy Interactive Workshop<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Background:<\/strong><br>In this interactive, practical workshop, Archer Newton, iCanStudy&#8217;s COO and one of the senior learning coaches, will present evidence-based, high-efficiency learning strategies to shed light on the techniques and approaches students can use to excel in their university assessments.<br><br>Recent research has exposed how the brain learns most effectively, emphasising the importance of higher-order thinking skills and self-regulated learning. Traditional study methods, such as highlighting, flashcards, and rote memorisation, often fall short for students, particularly when facing the challenges of university assessments.<br><br>After conducting a trend analysis on past years\u2019 university assessment commentaries and survey results from educators, students, and academic advisors, these were the recurring issues and challenges identified:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>High volume and content load: Managing large amounts of information and content that need to be learnt and retained.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Time management and work-life balance: Balancing study schedules with personal and academic responsibilities without relying on motivation and willpower.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Retaining and applying the information: Ensuring the ability to remember key concepts and understand them deeply enough to solve complex problems.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Effective preparation with limited support and materials: Strategising and optimising learning when resources, guidance, or access to quality materials are limited.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Our agenda during the workshop is to dive deep into each one of these challenges and discuss:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Reasons why students struggle to overcome the identified challenge.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rapid, high-yield changes students can make to overcome these challenges<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A live demonstration and teaching of an evidence-based note-taking method to halve study time and double memory retention<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Long-term systems, strategies, and techniques students should train in to maximise their chances of success in university assessments.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Archer Newton Bio \u2013 Revolutionising Learning Through Cognitive Science (GUEST SPEAKER)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Archer Newton, Chief Operating Officer at iCanStudy, specialises in transforming the way that people learn using cognitive science and behavioural psychology.
