{"id":4779,"date":"2025-03-24T13:04:43","date_gmt":"2025-03-24T13:04:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.exeter.ac.uk\/lawbulletin\/?p=4779"},"modified":"2025-03-24T13:04:44","modified_gmt":"2025-03-24T13:04:44","slug":"express-interest-in-essex-court-open-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.exeter.ac.uk\/lawbulletin\/2025\/03\/24\/express-interest-in-essex-court-open-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Express interest in One Essex Court Open Day"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>One Essex Court are holding an invitation only Open Day <strong>on 9 July<\/strong> for students who would like to learn more about life at the commercial bar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The programme for the day is expected to include:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Seminars covering a range of topics concerning the commercial bar and the life of a commercial barrister;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lunch in Inner Temple Hall, with members of chambers;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sessions covering how to become a barrister (including pupillage applications);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A talk and Q&amp;A with Lord Neuberger, the former President of the Supreme Court; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Opportunities for students to mingle with barristers and ask any questions they have about the commercial bar (and the bar more generally).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The cost of travel and accommodation for the event (if required) will be covered by One Essex Court to allow invited students to attend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One Essex Court wishes to invite <strong>two<\/strong> 2nd or final year law students from Exeter that meet the following criteria:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Excellent academic potential &#8211; on track for a 1st class degree;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The chambers are particularly interested to hear from students from disadvantaged and underrepresented backgrounds (although this is not a requirement to be eligible).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you would like to be considered for one of the two invitations, please email Charlie King &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fexeter.ac.uk%2F&amp;data=05%7C02%7CS.Miller%40exeter.ac.uk%7Cb4d748a1ebad4c3e341308dd62ec2b62%7C912a5d77fb984eeeaf321334d8f04a53%7C0%7C0%7C638775488668352267%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJFbXB0eU1hcGkiOnRydWUsIlYiOiIwLjAuMDAwMCIsIlAiOiJXaW4zMiIsIkFOIjoiTWFpbCIsIldUIjoyfQ%3D%3D%7C0%7C%7C%7C&amp;sdata=Hc4pNgWnEcl2Kn73M2ktVCT8FCEKkmeGcXPdmKmDkyA%3D&amp;reserved=0\">charlie.king@exeter.ac.uk<\/a> &#8211; with a copy of your transcript to date, a short introduction about yourself and an explanation of your reason for wanting to attend the open day <strong>by Friday 28 March 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Explore more about life at the commercial bar<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":263,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[211,475,521],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v23.0 -
