{"id":4813,"date":"2025-03-19T11:29:42","date_gmt":"2025-03-19T11:29:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.exeter.ac.uk\/lawbulletin\/?p=4813"},"modified":"2025-03-24T16:40:15","modified_gmt":"2025-03-24T16:40:15","slug":"brain-activity-and-jury-decisions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.exeter.ac.uk\/lawbulletin\/2025\/03\/19\/brain-activity-and-jury-decisions\/","title":{"rendered":"Brain activity and jury decisions"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Researchers from the <a href=\"https:\/\/law.exeter.ac.uk\/\">University of Exeter Law School <\/a>are looking for adult volunteers to participate in research studies using brain imaging to better understand how people make decisions about legal evidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participation will involve completion of a short online study (approximately 15 minutes) and completion of a decision-making task while undergoing an fMRI brain scan (approximately 60-75 minutes). Dates and times for participating are flexible, and participants who complete the study will receive \u00a3125 compensation for participation and expenses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We need participants who:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>are over the age of 18;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>have lived in the UK, Channel Islands, or Isle of Man for at least 5 years since they were 13;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>can speak and communicate clearly in English; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>have normal or corrected to normal vision.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You will not be able to participate if you cannot safely have an MRI scan.
