There is no requirement for entrants to the competition to be a member of Gray\u2019s Inn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The winner of the competition will receive a prize of \u00a31,500 plus a two-week paid internship with Gide\u2019s London office; the runner-up will receive a prize of \u00a31,000. The winning author\u2019s essay will be published in the Inn\u2019s Student Law Journal and on the Gide website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the 2025 prize, the essay question is:\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>If you were advising an entrepreneur starting up a company that develops and sells AI products would you encourage them to do so under the French or English legal system?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The essay should be the sole creation and original work of the entrant and must not be longer than 2,500 words.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All entries are to be written in English and submitted by email to Gide at <a href=\"mailto:essayprize@gide.com\">essayprize@gide.com<\/a> by the end of the day on <strong>Sunday 14 September 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.graysinn.org.uk\/app\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Gide_FrenchEnglishLaw_EssayPrize_GraysInn_2025_Rules_FINAL.pdf\">Further guidance and the competition rules<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Panel of Judges for the 2025 prize is as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Sir Andrew McFarlane (Vice Treasurer of Gray\u2019s Inn and President of the Judging Panel)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Saadia Bhatty (Partner, Gide London)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Michael Butcher (President of the Franco-British Data Society and Bencher of Gray\u2019s Inn)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Michael Collett, KC (Barrister at 20 Essex Chambers and Bencher of Gray\u2019s Inn)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dr Catherine Pedamon (Senior Lecturer, Westminster Law School)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Submit your entry by Sunday 14 September<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":263,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[5,1],"tags":[267,759,761],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v23.0 -
