This Essay Competition is made possible with the support of The Iris and David Freeman Charitable Trust, Garden Court Chambers and Humphries Kerstetter. <br>This year&#8217;s question is: <strong>Do we need legislative change to uphold the rights of care-experienced people?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Eligibility<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Lawyers Who Care definition of care-experience is a person who spent\u202fany period in care in England and Wales\u202f(foster care, kinship care, private foster care arrangement, supervision order, residential care or any residential placement provided by their local authority) before the age of 18. They would have had a regular\u202fsocial worker\u202fand received support from the local authority or children&#8217;s social care\/children\u2019s services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Prizes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>1st Place: \u00a3500 + one week of paid work experience or a mini-pupillage<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2nd Place: \u00a3250 + one week of paid work experience or a mini-pupillage<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3rd Place: \u00a3100<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The first-place winner will receive a 5-day work placement with either Humphries Kerstetter or Garden Court Chambers. Humphries Kerstetter will provide up to \u00a3400 in financial support to cover loss of earnings, travel, subsistence and incidental expenses.
