The panel will discuss why trust matters and how we understand and influence the forces shaping public trust and confidence in the rule of law and democracy.&nbsp;The panel will be moderated by Dr Hannah White (Director and CEO, Institute for Government).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Thursday 29\u00a0January 2026, 18:00-20:00 <\/strong>at the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom. He previously served as a senior judge in Scotland for 13 years. From 2008 to 2012 he was a member of the Inner House of the Court of Session, and from 1998 to 2008 a member of the Outer House of the Court of Session, where he was the Principal Commercial&nbsp;Judge.&nbsp;As well as sitting on the Supreme Court and the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council, he is also a member of the panel of ad hoc judges of the European Court of Human Rights.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dr Claire Hardaker<\/strong>&nbsp;is a Professor of Forensic Linguistics specialising in deceptive and manipulative language. She directs FACTOR (Forensic Linguistics, Cybersecurity &amp; Technology Research), leads the MSc in Forensic Linguistics &amp; Speech Science, and works across security, intelligence, justice, and public-sector organisations on the risks and opportunities posed by AI-mediated communication.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Daniel Cameron<\/strong>&nbsp;is a Research Director with Ipsos Mori. He has carried out research on Public Trust in AI, and how societies should navigate the AI transition. The organisation\u2019s research has focused on understanding the opportunities and risks of AI and what they mean for&nbsp;different parts&nbsp;of society.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Hannah White<\/strong>&nbsp;became CEO of the Institute for Government in October 2022. She leads the Institute in its work to make government more effective.&nbsp;Prior to joining the Institute, Hannah was appointed secretary to the independent ethics body \u2013 the Committee on Standards in Public Life in the Cabinet Office.
