Students from Exeter Law School were recently nominated to attend the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn University Information Afternoon and Dinner<\/a>, a chance for university students to learn more about the Inns of Court, Training for the Bar and life as a Barrister. One of the students, Phoebe Blakeborough, has shared her experience of the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am grateful to have attended the Honourable Society of Lincoln\u2019s Inn for the University Information Afternoon and Dinner. This afternoon gave me the opportunity to network with Barristers and Judges in a range of different areas in the legal sector. I was able to speak with judges at the criminal bench to Barristers in the Government Legal Department who wrote many of the legislation we read. This afternoon gave me an invaluable insight into the different sectors and the route I may want to take after graduating from Exeter. We engaged in networking opportunities with the other student attendees, speaking with a range of different universities and gained insight into studying law at different levels. The afternoon contained a panel event, where we were able to hear from members of the Inn, from a pupil barrister to a criminal judge. The evening ended with a domus dinner, where we networked with barristers in the commercial sector and one of whom who spoke of her less-common journey of changing from the solicitor route to the Bar which was insightful to learn of.
