Role Description

Job Summary
The College of Social Sciences and International Studies is seeking to recruit a Student Experience & Success Support Officer to assist with and extend the range of activities we provide for our students supporting the Law and Politics departments in Penryn. The role holder will be embedded within our departments to support the Directors of Education and the education teams with delivering and extending the range of academic support, community building and student experience activities within the departments and College. In Cornwall this comprises the Law School and the Politics department.


This GBP role is available for 23 months from date of start on a full-time basis. The post will be based on our Penryn campus but dependent on the requirements of the role there may be some opportunity to work from home for part of the week with agreement. The work duties will be variable each week and may require occasional evening / weekend work.

Role Description

Job Summary  The Law School have an opportunity for an undergraduate student to be included in a research project investigating the treatment of certain members of the HSBC Bank (UK) Pension Scheme. Your work will involve transcribing recorded interviews, cataloguing documentation relating to pension entitlements and summarising interview responses and documentary evidence. You will have the opportunity to develop experience of working on a funded research project that is of current interest to MPs and has been reported in the national press.  This role is part of the Student Campus Partnership (SCP) Scheme and offers flexible hours (up to 70 in total) until 8th July 2022. All work can be completed remotely, but some face-to-face meetings may also be possible in Exeter.

Role Description

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) is responsible for delivering justice through the independent and effective prosecution of crime. Undertaking case management duties within the paralegal team. Providing assistance to prosecutors as part of the overall prosecution team, through the preparation and progression of summary trial cases in the Magistrates’ Court. Providing assistance through the preparation and ongoing maintenance of Crown Court casework from receipt of file pre-committal/ transfer, through attendance at Crown Court where necessary, to post court conclusion. Dealing effectively and timeously with all case preparation, case progression and administrative tasks throughout the life cycle of a case, working both independently and in partnership with prosecutors, fellow paralegal staff, Casework Assistants and others within the local criminal justice system to produce optimum outputs.
