Cornwall Junior Law Division Panellists speak on routes into the legal profession

Panellist from left to right: Tim Walmsley. Chloe-Ann Roberts, Kathryn Whitford and Lexie Williams.

Our students were really fortunate to hear from a number of panellists from a range of backgrounds within the legal profession on Thursday 13th October. Hosted by Camilla Gee and Janet Keliher in a busy DM Lecture A, the panellists spoke on challenges they faced during their legal training and upon entering the legal profession.

We heard from Tim Walmsley, Charted Legal Surveyor and Partner at Stephens Scown; Chloe-Ann Roberts, Trainee Solicitor at Foot Anstey; Kathryn Whitford, Sole Practitioner with over 30 years in the legal profession and Lexie Williams, Apprentice Solicitor at Stephens Scown. They were also joined by Hannah Graham virtually; Hannah is currently a Paralegal at Shoosmiths after recently passing her SQE1.

They all spoke very well, using their experiences to advise a really engaged group of students. After being introduced to their backgrounds, the students had a number of questions related to the subjects covered by the panellists. After the event, the panel joined the students for a networking opportunity in the Upper Stannary, where the panellists have all said that they were really impressed with how engaged the students were.

Thank you to all of those who attended, the Junior Law Division have said that they would be delighted to work with the university moving forward!
