Discover your Future; HaSS Networking and Panel Event

Monday 14th November – 4:00pm to 5.15pm – Daphne Du Maurier, Lecture A

HaSS Cornwall presents our Alumni Panel Event on Monday 14th November in Daphne Du Maurier, Lecture A at 4pm. This event brings together an exciting panel of professionals reflecting areas of economic, social and cultural importance in a number of roles. Whether you are in the early stages of your studies or have already graduated, this could be the event to help you make those next steps in your career planning.

The panel event will be followed by networking and a reception in the Upper Stannary between 5:15pm and 6:30pm. We will be hearing from some former students and professionals, speaking about their career paths and answering questions about their experiences as students and in the workplace. Working in Charities and the Third Sector – Virtual Alumni Panel Event

Tuesday 8 November – 5:30pm to 6:45pm – Online

This event brings together an exciting panel of University of Exeter alumni working in a variety of roles in Charities and the Third Sector. After each panellist has spoken about their career journey there will be time for Q&A.

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to ask them anything you might want to know about their careers – their experiences could help inform your own career decisions! Whether you are in the early stages of your studies or have already graduated, this could be the event to help you make those next steps in your career planning.

Chartered Accountancy: A Career Path for Everyone – Panel and Networking Event

Thursday 10th November – 5:30pm to 7:30pm – Streatham Court D, Streatham Campus

Have you ever considered a career in accountancy? This in person event is your chance to hear from a variety of accountancy firms at this presentation and networking event! This event consists of an introduction from each of the employers listed below and a catered networking session – you will have the chance to hear about the accountancy industry as well as network closely with the employers. This event is open to students from all years and disciplines and contributes towards the Exeter Award. To find out more about the employers attending, click here.

If you are based on the Penryn campus and would like to attend this event, you can reserve a space on a coach bringing students up from Penryn to Exeter for the day. Please note there are limited spaces available.

Careers in International Development and Humanitarianism Virtual Event

Tuesday 15th November – 5:30pm to 6:45pm – Online (Zoom)

This event brings together an exciting panel of Social Sciences alumni working in a variety of interesting roles since graduating. This event will present you with the opportunity to ask the panellists anything you might want to know about working in international development and/or humanitarianism. After each panellist has spoken about their own career path there will be time for Q&As.

This event is open to all students but is aimed at those studying Social Sciences.

How to create brilliant UK job applications as an International Student: Virtual Workshop

Monday 31st October – 5:00pm to 6:00pm – Online

It can be hard as an international student to understand what UK employers are looking for and how to impress them in your applications. In this workshop you will discover what UK employers want, which will help you to excel in your job applications and interviews. There are some major differences between the UK job application process compared to other countries, and the strategies that may have worked for you at home may not be so successful in the UK.

Paid Research Opportunity for BIPOC Students

Dr Shubranshu Mishra is offering paid internship for BIPOC students to take notes during a workshop and create a blog post on decolonising South Asia. The posts will be published either on the Exeter Decolonising blog or the Exeter South Asia Centre, and authors will receive a payment of £40. It’ll be a great way for students to start writing for a public audience and get your voice out there!
