PREVIOUS NEWSLETTER

Dear Everyone,

We’re looking forward to seeing you back in class on Monday as we start the final section of the teaching and learning on each of your modules. For our final year students, we know that this is quite a moment as you take part in your last lectures and seminars as undergraduates over the next five weeks.  Do take time to come to everything that you can and to spend time in the library and around Campus with your friends and classmates, we know that you do not really need reminding that this time does not happen again for you. If you are having any problems accessing any part of your education or finding it hard to get back on track, do remember that there are lots resources available to support you and that you can make an appointment to see any of us. Simply click on this link and it will take you through to a single booking system where you can book different meetings in the next month.

We are delighted that Alice Farthing has joined the Legal Foundations team and will be leading seminars from next week. As some of you will already know Alice joined us in October 2021 as a specialist academic writing tutor for Law and she delivers workshops and one-to-one advice sessions on various aspects of writing.

Alice graduated from the Penryn Campus with an LLB in 2012. She then went on to study Maritime Law in Southampton. Whilst studying for her LLM, Alice Farthing began teaching academic writing to pre-masters students in Law. This experience fuelled her interest in teaching academic reading and writing skills. Alice has worked both abroad and in the UK teaching writing and particularly enjoys learning about new teaching styles and methods which encourage engagement and participation. We are so pleased to have Alice as a colleague and her presence enables us to support year 1 even more in their academic writing.

Don’t forget that the SU Global Society is now beginning and that they would love law and business students to be part of the founding members:

‘My name is Vic, I’m a Portuguese and Finnish politics student. I’m in the process of starting the Global Society, a society for international students and international discussion. We want to have social events on holidays and make the uni experience easier for those away from home. If you would be interested in joining the society or hearing more about it, my Instagram is @vic_the_vicster.

. We are currently waiting on the society to be approved but we have high hopes.’

I’d love to get to know all of you and get some ideas for the society!

Year 3 students

As you approach the end of your degree, we would very much like to know about your plans after your studies. Are you planning on further study? Will you be entering the world of work? Do you have other plans?

Whatever you are looking at, we would very much like to know. Please complete this brief questionnaire – This will allow us to help prospective students see what kinds of options are being taken up by students on the Law and Business programmes. If your information is used, your name will not be disclosed to any other student or anyone outside the University.

Wishing you all the best,

The Law and Business Team

How I aced my SQE1 exams
