Your Participation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What will happen on the day?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

All sessions take place at the University of Exeter’s vSimulator facility, Exeter Science Park, EX5 2FN. Sessions last 1\u20132 hours. Support with parking and travel is provided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Arrival & preparation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Tour the facility, confirm your details, have height, weight and knee movement measured. Reflective markers and optional sensors are attached to your skin and clothing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Familiarisation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Walk on the platform for 20 seconds \u2014 first still, then gently vibrating. You are never alone and can stop at any time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Movement tasks<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Everyday activities: standing, walking, stepping up and down, sitting to standing. Each repeated up to 5 times with rest breaks. The platform may gently vibrate during some tasks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Virtual reality<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Using a VR headset, complete activities such as walking through a train carriage or around obstacles. You can opt out at any time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Follow-up<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Healthy volunteers attend once only. OA participants return 6\u201312 months after surgery for a repeat session, plus a short questionnaire at 12 months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
