In 2016, she started her BBSRC and Unilever funded PhD project, under the supervision of Dr Mal Horsburgh (University of Liverpool). Her studies were focused on the human scalp microbiome. She joined the research group led by Prof. Kate Baker in 2021, as a PDRA investigating <em>Shigella<\/em> genomics to understand its evolution, epidemiology and diversity.
