It is based in the University of Exeter, with affiliated members from the University of Liverpool.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">It was initiated in 2013 as an ESRC-funded PhD initiative. The current cohort of PhD candidates are funded by the UK&#8217;s Nuclear Waste Services and the University of Exeter.<\/p>\n<p>As a research group, Nuclear Societies undertakes grants, collaborations with technical groups, and regular academic symposia and workshops. The latest international symposium was organised in 2025 (&#8220;Energy Infrastructures and their Communities&#8221;), which brought together academics and professionals from nine universities across the UK, France, Canada, USA, and Germany.<\/p>\n<p>Nuclear Societies is associated with SHARE (Social Sciences and Humanities in Ionising Radiation Research).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">_______________________________________________________________________<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nuclear Societies is a leading research group interested in nuclear energy and nuclear waste management as sociotechnical matters.
