My PhD is focussed on using physiology and neurophysiology to understand and measure the reliability of endogenous pain modulation in the human spinal cord, brain and brainstem. In addition to this, we aim to explore pharmacological interventions with the potential to enhance this system. The research is conducted using electromyography (EMG) and electroencephalography (EEG).
