15 March 2022On 1st March, the first Politics Quiz Night was held in the Ram Bar Marquee. The event was an enormous success with the (free) tickets selling out ahead of the event. In total we had over 60 students attending, competing in 12 teams. The quiz took the format of a picture followed by a British politics round, and entertainment round, then a break for food, then a world politics round and finishing with a general knowledge round. The quiz was expertly hosted by Martha from the Ram Bar, with two politics rounds written by student volunteers Abi and James. Each round was interesting, challenging, and lead to lots of chatter and laughter. There was lots of friendly competition between teams and some interesting negotiating with one team trying to swap curly fries for answers to the questions. At the end of the evening we completed the scoring. The winning team – ‘Bradshaw’s Retirement Committee’ (Daniel Chappel, Elvis Moore, George Cammack, Marc Sukumar and Katie Truman) – landed first place, 20 points ahead of the team in last place. The winning team each received a £10 Costa Coffee voucher, and the bottom place team won a tin of sweets to soften the blow of coming last!
We plan to host another one or two quiz nights before the end of academic year – keep an eye out in the newsletter, or send an email to K.Foran@exeter.ac.uk to make sure you are first to hear.
