2024-2025: We read sections of the pseudo-Galenic Medical Definitions, using the new Corpus Medicorum Graecorum edition by Jutta Kollesch (2023).

Τί ἐστιν ἰατρικὴ τέχνη;

Τί ἐστι στοιχεῖον;
Τίνα ἐστὶ στοιχεῖα τῆς ἰατρικῆς;

2023-2024: We read the introduction to Hero’s Pneumatics, and the early chapters. We used the Teubner edition of the Greek edited by Wilhelm Schmidt (1899) and reprinted with French translation and notes: Gilbert Argoud and Jean-Yves Guillaumin, Les pneumatiques d’Héron d’Alexandrie (Université de Saint Étienne, Centre Jean-Palerne, 1997). We enjoyed the illustrations in the 1851 Woodcroft translation, such as that below, and benefited from Courtney Roby, The Mechanical Tradition of Hero of Alexandria (Cambridge, 2023)

2022-2023: We read (parts of) the Hippocratic text Airs Waters Places, starting from the beginning (here from the Cornarius early printed edition, published in Basle, 1538).
