Join the City Nature Challenge, a worldwide movement to document nature and help fight biodiversity loss!<\/strong> Every observation you make of WILD nature in Exeter is a data point that helps scientists and researchers understand and protect nature for all of us. We have entered Exeter for the first time in 2026. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to Participate:  <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

From April 24 – 27, 2026, get outside and take photos or record sounds of nature where you live. Look for WILD plants, animals, fungi, etc. (Wild means it was not put there by people and is not being taken care of by people.) Take a close look at the plants around you. Are there any insects or spiders on them? How many different types of birds can you find in your local park? Put on your nature eyes and see Exeter in a whole new way.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

From April 28 – May 10, 2026 upload your observations to iNaturalist and help identify what others have seen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Exeter a small team of local organisers and amazing experts have offered their time to do some guided walks and events to help people discover and understand the exciting urban ecosystems in and around our beautiful city. Events are open to all and you can sign up on our web page<\/a> and check our iNaturalist project<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By participating in the City Nature Challenge, we can connect with nature, connect with each other, and connect with cities all over the world! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The City Nature Challenge <\/strong>is organized globally by the California Academy of Sciences and the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County. The Exeter City Nature Challenge is put on by the University of Exeter, with help and support from the Met Office, the National Trust, Devon Wildlife Trust, Exeter City Council, Devon Wildlife Consultants, Ecological Training UK, Friends of Hoopern Valley, South West Lichen Society. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
