Transdisciplinary Consciousness Conversers

About

The Transdisciplinary Consciousness Conversers started as a Researcher Led Initiative, by Eirini Ketzitzidou-Argyri and Johanna Hilla-Maria Sopanen at the University of Exeter.

“What a lot of the talks pointed to (directly or indirectly) was the need to critically approach predominant narratives in our studies. It can be tricky to do research without ending up conforming to specific trends or narratives that are happening in one’s academic ecosystem. The transdisciplinary nature of this series allowed me to see alternative ways to talk and think about the research questions I am interested in.

We explored different aspects of human consciousness as well as the paradoxical utility of labels:

“The neurodiversity talk made me think more about consciousness materiality and brain chemistry in interesting and generative ways.”

Participants left with food for thought and a desire to continue the conversations

“I think it’s fantastic how much ground we covered in 4 sessions. This was certainly one of the most thought-provoking workshops I have ever partaken in. I feel a desire to continue conversations.”
