Biosciences (Streatham) had its annual DEFRA/APHA inspection on 21st February and passed with flying colours.
The 3 licences we hold allow us to work with specified plant pathogens within the department, and are held by academics with myself, Sam Mitchell, as lead DEFRA contact for each licence.
This years inspection was more in-depth as we added new locations, including the Living Systems Institute and the Mezzanine floor of the Geoffrey Pope Building, new organisms and new Academic leads to the existing licences. Further labs on the Mezzanine floor will also be licenced, once work to refurbish the plant growth rooms is complete.
